CTR Lasers - Materials-Paper And Card

Paper and card can be laser cut for precise control on curves and tight corners. Papers of varying thickness can also be laser engraved to produce unique effects.

Laser cutting is a quick and easy process that can be used to process paper, paperboard and cardboard for digital printing, packaging prototype construction, model making or scrapbooking.

Suitable materials

  • Paper (fine or art paper, uncoated paper) up to 600 grams
  • Paperboard
  • Cardboard
  • Corrugated cardboard

Does the paper burn during laser cutting?

With most paper and card when you cut your material with a laser, it will have no smoke residues or burnt edges, even for the finest contours. There are always exceptions (some laminated card for example) and materials need to be tested.

How does laser cutting and laser engraving paper work?

Lasers are particularly suited for cutting even the most intricate designs with maximum precision and quality, something a cutting plotter is unable to do. CTR laser machines can be used for laser paper cutting and also the effortless engraving of logos or pictures.

Will I need to fix/clamp the material in the working area?

Not at all. There is no physical contact between the laser and the material whilst being processed just place the material and start the laser process. For really light materials we have the option of installing a vacuum bed. This ensures that thin or wavy materials are positioned flat on the work table. No pressure is exerted on the material during laser cutting paper and card, so neither clamping nor any other type of fixation is required.
