Laser engraving onto leather is a unique process. As leather is a versatile material personalising items such as bags, belts, business card holders, leather boxes, filofax, wallets etc. makes it ideal for corporate and general gifts.

What types of leather are suitable for laser cutting and engraving?

  • Light & dark leather
  • Natural leather
  • Synthetic leather
  • Napped leather
  • Alcantara
  • Nubuck
  • Suede
  • Velours

What are the advantages of a laser machine when working leather?

Compared to traditional methods of processing leather, laser cutting leather produces a clean and sealed cutting edge, so there will be no fraying of the material. Laser etching and engraving leather, motifs, letters and designs are burnt into the leather.

What makes a laser cutter better than a cutting plotter?

Normal plotters experience significant resistance for the tool and as a laser is a contactless process it is guaranteed to produce consistently high quality results, without damage to the material.

Will I need to fix/clamp the material in the working area?

Not at all. There is no physical contact between the laser and the material whilst being processed just place the material and start the laser process. For really light materials we have the option of installing a vacuum bed. This ensures that thin or wavy materials are positioned flat on the work table. No pressure is exerted on the material during laser cutting leather, so neither clamping nor any other type of fixation is required.
