Laser engraving on stone offers brilliant design options by lasering text and photographs on to natural stone, marble and man-made materials like Corian®. Results are far better than can be achieved with other methods.

Stone types suitable for laser engraving include

  • Ceramic
  • Concrete
  • Brick
  • Granite
  • Marble
  • Natural stone
  • Pebble stones
  • Slate
  • Corian
  • Masonite

How does laser engrave on stone work?

Using simple design software to ‘print’ to our laser machine and the laser beam removes a small amount of the surface layer off, so there‘s no need for producing a stencil. Deep engraving is not possible on natural stone as the heat from the laser beam causes the under layer to bond quickly.

Do I need a special type of stone to engrave with the laser?

Laser engraving on stone is particularly suited for polished natural stones like granite, marble or slate. The more homogeneous and fine-grained the stone, the better the results produced by stone engraving. But thanks to their smooth surface, even pebble stones can be etched well with the laser.

Typical applications for laser engraving on stone include tombstones, paperweights or decorations.

Is it also possible to cut stone with the laser?

Unfortunately, cutting stone with the laser is not possible, however CTR has a range of water cutting machines that can do the job – Microstep AquaCut.
