Wood Laser Cutter

Wood Laser Cutter: An investment that saves you time and money

Wood engraving evolved from the oldest printing technique, ‘woodcut’—which dates back to the fifteenth century. This was essentially the process whereby a design was carved into the surface of a block of wood—typically with gouges—leaving the printing parts level with the surface, whilst removing the non-printing parts. Only specialist craftsman could carry out this kind of work, but times have certainly changed and thankfully we’re now at a stage where any business can utilise innovative technology to cut or engrave wood swiftly with ease! Here at CTR Lasers, we supply a wide range of laser cutting and engraving machines that are extremely versatile, precise and easy to operate.

Why choose a wood laser cutter from CTR Lasers?

Our machines have been utilised in a huge range of industries, from compact modern CNC machines for schools and workshops to purpose built machines for complete production lines. With a wood laser cutter, you can drastically increase production whilst lowering costs. Our British design and manufactured wood laser cutting machines are of the highest quality, leaving a feather-free cut so there is no need for a 'post process' to sand the edge – a major advantage compared to other machines such as routers.

It’s important to understand that we do offer a wide range of wood laser cutting machines for different requirements, so if you’re unsure on the best system for your specific application, it’s best to contact a member of our team. That said, with any of our systems, you’re guaranteed a reliable wood laser cutter that marks and engraves most woods, as well as plywood and MDF, but they can also cut or engrave many other materials, including ceramics, stone, glass, card, paper and fabric.

Are there any major drawbacks to using a Wood Laser Cutter?

Generally no, but this is a difficult question to answer because it does depend on the wood being used. For example, some materials will have a deep brown finish and some will have quite a light finish to the cut edge. That said, if you use the right setting, which is something we can guide you on, you shouldn’t get a ‘cremated’ look to the wood, unless of course you want to for artistic purposes. From our experience this is one of the only drawbacks and there are far too many benefits to using a wood laser cutter, and these should not be ignored. One of the handy features our customers love is the fact that with our machines there is no need to clamp the wood down to the working area. You just place the material and start the laser process! It’s that simple.
